Stand Out with an IMA Student Scholarship

With the IMA Student Scholarship, you can complete the CMA or FMAA program at no cost. Take the exams while still in college and dazzle future employers with your management accounting skills.

IMA Student Scholarship Program Details

Who is the scholarship for?

  • For IMA-endorsed Schools: 10 students per academic year can be nominated for an IMA Student Scholarship. Students can select which exam they prefer to take for the scholarship: the CMA® (Certified Management Accountant) or the FMAA™ (Financial and Managerial Accounting Associate).
  • For IMA Partner Schools*, three students per academic year can be nominated for an IMA Student Scholarship. Again, students can select which exam they prefer to take for the scholarship: the CMA or the FMAA.
  • All students who are nominated by a professor and meet the eligibility requirements will earn a scholarship.

*IMA Partner Schools must meet certain eligibility criteria. For example, having an active IMA student chapter on campus; integrating IMA content into their course curriculum; sending students to the IMA Student Leadership Conference; and inviting IMA to present to students on a regular basis.

How do I apply?

Students from IMA-endorsed and IMA Partner Schools can ask their professor to nominate them for an IMA Student Scholarship. (Note: A student must create an IMA account prior to having a professor nominate them. Please see these instructions about how to create an IMA account.) Students do not need to purchase IMA membership in order to be nominated. Students cannot self-nominate, except for Ph.D. students, who do not require a professor’s nomination. See nomination forms by region below.

When is the nomination period open?

IMA accepts IMA Student Scholarship nominations each academic year from September 1 through June 30.

What’s included?

  • Two years of IMA Student membership
  • Entrance fee to the CMA exam (must be used and at least one part of the exam passed within 12 months of receiving the scholarship. Both exam parts must be passed within 24 months) OR entrance/exam fee to the FMAA exam (must be used and exam passed within 6 months of receiving the scholarship)
  • Exam fees for Part 1 and Part 2 of the CMA exam (each exam fee can only be used once)
  • Access to Gleim Online Study materials for 12 months from the time the scholarship is received (select regions only; see your region-specific application for details). Gleim is the exclusive review material provider of the IMA Student Scholarship.
