Prepare Your Students for Global Careers in Accounting and Finance

PARTNER with IMA TODAY

The IMA FMAA Academic Partner Program is a new initiative designed to help universities strengthen undergraduate learning, enhance student employability, and align with global standards in financial and managerial accounting education.

This program recognizes universities whose curriculum meets the competency framework of the FMAA certification, enabling them to offer students a professional credential early in their academic journey.

What is the
FMAA Certification?

The FMAA™ (Financial and Managerial Accounting Associate) is a globally recognized certification that empowers university students across all majors, providing foundational knowledge in financial accounting, managerial accounting, cost and budgeting concepts, business analytics, internal controls, and decision-making fundamentals.

Benefits for Your Students

Being part of the FMAA Academic Partner Program offers students access to career-defining opportunities. These include early access to the FMAA exam; a discounted fee of USD 249 and two years of complimentary IMA student membership; dual recognition of a university degree and a global credential; access to webinars, competitions, career tools, and networking events; better preparation for future certifications, such as the CMA; and enhanced employability in finance, accounting, analytics, and management.

Requirements for Participation

To become an IMA FMAA Academic Partner, universities must complete the following steps:

Fill out the General Information section in the application file.

Align your undergraduate accounting curriculum with the FMAA Learning Outcome Statements by completing the Curricular Content tab.

This mapping should clearly show how your course content meets the competencies outlined in the FMAA framework.

Send the completed curriculum mapping file to IMA Middle East at: imamiddleeast@imanet.org

IMA will review and approve the submission.

Provide your university’s plan to promote the FMAA certification to students.

This includes proposed activities to raise awareness and engagement.

Once approved, the university will be granted the official IMA FMAA Academic Partner status and receive the partner logo.

Eligible students can then apply for and take the FMAA exam through the special partner pathway.

Streamlined Option for Existing IMA CMA-Endorsed Universities

If your institution is already an IMA CMA Academically Endorsed University, the process is easier—no curriculum mapping is required.
