With COVID-19 in progress, IMA’s Kuwait Chapter team has been focused on web-based events to ensure continued communication with IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) members in the country and beyond. Topics and speakers were carefully selected to ensure a successful representation of trending topics that have a direct impact on the profession. The last quarter saw the chapter focus on pandemic-related topics and also expand into the impact of technology on the finance and accounting profession. As such, M. R. Raghu – currently head of research at Kuwait Financial Center (Markaz), a leading asset management company based in Kuwait with AUM exceeding $3B; the managing director of Marmore Mena Intelligence, a research subsidiary of Markaz; and an active member of the finance and accounting profession – joined our Kuwait Chapter for a highly informative session that explored how the stock market was spared from the negative impact of the pandemic. The chapter also engaged Dr. Sameer Rohadia – a finance specialist and holder of multiple degrees, including a Doctorate in ERP Implementation – to discuss Big Data and ways to integrate it effectively into the finance and accounting function.
